Killamazoo 68 - Paper Valley 105 - Re-cap

Saturday May 1, 2010 the Killamazoo Derby Darlins played the Paper Valley Roller Girls at the Kalamazoo Expo Center and Fairgrounds Hazel Grey Building. This was Killamazoo’s third attempt to take Paper Valley, having been defeated by them twice before.

This much anticipated victory however did not happen for Killamazoo. Killamazoo kept their lead over Paper Valley for most of the first half until Paper Valley jumped ahead of Killamazoo in the thirteenth jam with a thirteen point lead. Killamazoo’s jammer Charisnakov was sent to the penalty box followed shortly thereafter by Delilah Danger. This opened the jam up to Paper Valley’s jammer Cyanide Ride who scored the thirteen points. Paper Valley continued to score another eight points by the end of the first half leaving the score for the first half at Paper Valley Roller Girls 48 - Killamazoo 27.

On the very first jam for the second half Killamazoo’s Lady Hawk got a power jam pulling Killamazoo’s score up seven points to 34, and bringing hope back to the Killamazoo fans. However the Paper Valley Roller Girls shut Killamazoo down by blocking them successfully over and over with a powerful three girl wall. Paper Valley’s brutal blocking in addition to the MVP worthy playing of their jammer Chop Stick Ya, helped Paper Valley rack up enough points to maintain a solid lead throughout the second half. The Paper Valley Roller Girls left Killamazoo behind with an impressive thirty seven point lead and ending score of 105-68.
